How to Size Potatoes with Vitazyme

Get the plants off to a strong start

In order to maximize profits a grower needs to keep several factors in mind: at planting, the concern should be to balance fertility levels in the soil with a reliable soil test, to adjust fertility and mineral requirements according to expert consultation, and to get the plants off to a strong start with a good starter fertilizer and Vitazyme. The starter/Vitazyme combination can be placed directly in furrow or 2x2, or the Vitazyme can be mixed with an insecticide and placed in furrow and the starter applied separately. If a dry fertilizer is used as a starter without liquid insecticide, Vitazyme can be applied with an herbicide, either pre plant or post emergent.

Build a big set

Potatoes begin to set at the hook stage, when the stolons are actively growing and begin to "hook". This occurs roughly 30 days after planting, and is a critical time in establishing the set of the crop. Vitazyme applied at the hook stage will trigger responses in the plant that will result in more efficient nutrient uptake and better set; it will also stimulate more stolon production for subsequent sets.

The bulking process

Ok, so we've got a healthy crop with a big set. Is there a danger of having a large crop of small potatoes? If the nutritional needs of the crop are not met, that is exactly what can happen. Vitazyme will help bulk up the crop in several ways: it will make the applied fertilizer more efficiently used, it will stimulate micro organisms in the soil to make more nutrients available, especially nitrogen, and it will stimulant the crop to produce more chlorophyll which will produce more sugars which will be converted into starch which will make bigger tubers.

Apply Vitazyme about 60 days after planting with your normal cover spray to jumpstart the bulking process. Potatoes put on much of their bulk in the last few days before vinekill, providing there is adequate moisture present. When Vitazyme is applied two weeks before vinekill significant size increases result.

The rate for all applications is 13oz/acre ( 1 liter/hectare). Remember, you can mix Vitazyme with all your other chemicals and fertilizers to eliminate application costs.
