How to Increase Yield and Test Weight in Small Grains

There are several critical stages of growth in small grains that directly affect yield and quality. These include the time of emergence, tillering stage, boot stage, and post flowering stage. At any of these stages the plant is in a state of transition and proper nutrition and environmental factors are essential to allow the plant to express it's genetic potential. Vitazyme applied at any of these stages will increase both yield and quality, producing higher tonnage, higher test weight, and lower moisture content.

Temperate Climates

Winter grains: Apply Vitazyme in the fall either before or after planting, either directly to the seed with a liquid applicator on the planter, or with a broadcast sprayer. This will speed germination and help the seedings to develop an aggressive root system to prevent frost heaving in the winter, which is a major factor in winter kill and consequent loss of yield. See cereal grains for a full range of methods.

Produce Heavier Plants with More Flower Heads

Apply Vitazyme again at greenup or within a few weeks afterward, during the time of active tillering. This will produce more tillers and more flowering heads.

Spring grains: The developmental stages are the same as for winter grains, the only difference being a more compressed growing season. Apply Vitazyme at planting and again between tillering and early boot stage.

Tropical and Semi Tropical Climates

Rice: For paddy rice, pre-germinate seeds if possible by soaking in a 5% solution of Vitazyme for 24 hours. If transplants are used, dip the roots in a 5% solution before planting. Apply Vitazyme at the tillering stage and again at panicle initiation to produce heavier plants with more flower heads.

For upland rice, apply Vitazyme either before or after planting, either directly to the seed with a liquid applicator on the planter, or with a broadcast sprayer. Apply Vitazyme at the tillering stage or up to panicle initiation. See rice for a full range of methods.

The rate for all applications is 13oz/acre ( 1 liter/hectare). Remember, you can mix Vitazyme with all your other chemicals and fertilizers to eliminate application costs.
